Gratitude influences our level of well- being and self- esteem & is directly correlated to better performance.

Gratitude is...

“a thankful appreciation for what we receive, whether tangible or intangible, a social emotion that we feel in response to receiving something good which is undeserved and as a result helps us connect to something larger than themselves...a cause, other people, nature or God.” (Harvard Medical School) (Fox et all 2015)(Lancewing, 2016).

In a recent study with nearly 300 adults struggling with depression and anxiety shows evidence that the practice of gratitude has these psychological benefits and promotes our mental and emotional well-being in these ways 1. It unshackles is from toxic emotions, 2. It has lasting positive effects on the brain, 3 Contributes to deeper relationships but also helps us even if we don’t share it, 4. It increases optimism and happiness and self-control but does take time to cultivate it as a habit.

In addition Lung Hung Chen found that an athlete’s level of gratitude for their success influences their level of well- being and self- esteem & correlated to better performance.

Gratitude is not always our default habit ...disappointments, resentments and fears can occupy more of our attention.
